Muqarnas Projecting Bay: Fitaihi Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Perspective

This is a perspective view of one of 20 projecting bays being used on
the exterior of the Fitaihi Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is a
large state-of-the-art hospital designed by the architect Dr. Sami Angawi.
It is the intention of Dr. Angawi for this hospital to demonstrate the appropriateness
of using traditional Islamic ornament in contemporary civic architectural
projects in the Middle East.
Bonner Design Consultancy was contracted to supply the traditional Islamic
ornamental details throughout this building. This hospital project made
extensive use of muqarnas ornament. This building is in the pre-construction
CD stage of production.
The muqarnas for the projecting bays and balconies for the Fitaihi Hospital
was designed by Jay Bonner.
The projecting bay architectural elements will be manufactured in stone.
The projecting bays are four stories in height.
The muqarnas and projecting bay was designed in 3D by Jay Bonner using AutoCAD.
