Ornamental Polyhedra

Several examples from a set of Platonic and Archimedean Polyhedra ornamented with Islamic geometric patterns by Jay Bonner.

These paper models were the result of an on-going fascination with the application of Islamic patterns to spherical geometry. This is an area with little historical precedent, but great creative potential.

Eventually, the work in this field lead to the creation of a product that is sold under the name of Geodazzlers. This product includes pre-cut and pre-creased colour printed-paper patterns for making ornamental versions of all five of the Platonic solids, and all 13 of the Archimedean solids. This product is manufactured and distributed by Design Science Toys. These can be purchased in retail outlets throughout the United States, or directly from Design Science Toys.
